Join P/PREP and MCR for an evening presentation and moderated discussion:
“Up Up and Away The Public-Private Partnership of the TWA Hotel: Collaboration to Revive an Architectural Icon and Breathe New Life into JFK International Airport”
The TWA Flight Center, commissioned by Howard Hughes and designed by Eero Saarinen, opened its doors in 1962 and quickly became an architectural icon. Following TWA s final bankruptcy in 2001, the building has sat vacant for 17 years under the stewardship of the Port Authority of NY & NJ. Now, through a complex public-private partnership involving a number of governmental entities, MCR is bringing it back to its 1962 glory, reinventing the building as the TWA Hotel. Encompassing over 500 rooms, 50,000 square feet of event space, and a number of retail / F&B outlets, TWA will be the only hotel on airport property at JFK.
We ll have the pleasure of witnessing a presentation on the project and moderated discussion given by:
William White, Vice President, Acquisitions & Development, MCR
George Bergamo, Assistant Vice President, NYCEDC
Following the panel, make sure to stick around for drinks and networking at a nearby venue.
